Saying Goodbye

The Lieutenant left home this afternoon for a new adventure in graduate school.  It is hard to believe how fast the time has past since he was my little boy.  Now he goes forth a man, a member of the air force, to start his career.  I have watched him leave home many times before for as long as two years without a visit home, but somehow this seems different.  Now he is off to set up a household, get and apartment, buy furniture and kitchen supplies and hopefully cleaning supplies.  I can't wait to hear about his new adventure.  I would be having a harder time if the video princess had not returned from her college for a month break.  At least the home is not totally empty.

Taking a dive

Now that my children have all moved out of the house, I have more time to consider blogging.  I have to admit that I still don't quite understand blogging.  I guess I will dip my toe in the deep end and try it.  My family consists of my husband, aka the engineer (EE), son #1, aka lieutenant(Lt), son #2 aka bioinformatics guy(BG) and daughter, aka video princess(VP).  We have spent most of our family life in the same home.  I work as a diabetes educator and love my work.  I am a registered dieititian and I am passionate about my profession.  I am interested in heatlh and nutrition, biking, watching football and basketball, following what my kids are up to and advocating for my profession.  I am probably more interested than the average person in legislation, both state and federal, but not politics.  I plan to share the ups and downs of this new phase of my life, my passions, things I learn about nutrition and health.  Here we go....
